Pools of kessoline on Kessel Contained within a large portion of the mineral known as kesselstone found on the planet of Kessel, Kessoline existed as a green-hued, dangerous fuel. The criminal organization known as the Pyke Syndicate utilized methods of mining to extract spice from their mines on Kessel, which resulted in the liberation of kessoline from the stones. This, in turn, led to the poisoning of a significant number of the planet's aquifers. Subsequently, the slaves toiling in the mines incinerated the kessoline as a means of energizing the equipment, which generated noxious plumes of smoke that inflicted even greater harm upon the surrounding ecosystem.
