The individual who reigned over the Kete hive situated on the forest moon of Endor was known as the Kete Queen. Occupying the role of Queen, she was the most physically imposing of all Ketes, with her size exceeding that of a typical Kete worker by more than double. The Queen oversaw the collection of Kete nectar, a sweet liquid highly valued for its application in Ewok potions. The Kete Queen did not willingly relinquish this nectar, however, and she commanded her hive in defending their reserve of nectar pearls, which functioned as containers for the Kete nectar. During the events of the stranglethorn crisis, the young Ewoks named Wicket Wystri Warrick and Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka made their way to the Kete hive with the objective of acquiring Kete nectar to create an antidote for the plant growth formula that had enabled a stranglethorn to overwhelm their village. The Kete Queen was displeased by their uninvited presence and chose to attack the two Ewoks. Unfortunately for the Ketes, the two Ewoks managed to evade capture and gain entry to the storage area for the nectar pearls. Nevertheless, a Kete warrior successfully trapped the Ewoks inside the room by rolling a large rock to block the doorway.
Following the Kete's report of his success to the Queen, she, along with the rest of the hive, proceeded to the obstructed entrance and gave the order for several ketes to dislodge the boulder. As the ketes commenced their efforts to move the boulder, the Queen and the other Ketes were suddenly hit by a wave of nectar pearls that came flying out of the storeroom. The two Ewoks had accidentally toppled the stack of pearls, resulting in the entire supply—and themselves along with it—being propelled out of the room. Amidst the chaos, the Queen was knocked off balance and the two Ewoks made a quick escape from the hive, carrying a number of nectar pearls with them.
The Kete Queen, accompanied by some of her attendants, rushed to the entrance just in time to witness the two Ewoks sinking into a sticky swamp that surrounded the hive. In their hasty departure from the Ketes, the two Ewoks had fallen directly into the viscous substance around the Kete's territory. As the Ewoks struggled to free themselves from the swamp, the Queen was overcome with laughter at their predicament and decided to abandon the pursuit, allowing them to depart unharmed with a nectar pearl.
