Kharys' fortress

A stronghold was erected on the summit of Canaitith Mountain, the highest summit on the world of Skye, by the genetics-focused terrorist Zeta Magnus. Despite Magnus's defeat at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi, along with his apprentices Anakin Skywalker and Halagad Ventor, in 22 BBY, his stronghold was later utilized by Kharys following her ascension to the position of Majestrix of Skye, a position endorsed by the Galactic Empire.

History

During 22 BBY, the inaugural year of the Clone Wars that pitted the Galactic Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems, a clone of the genetically engineered horror known as Zeta Magnus seized control of the planet of Skye. Leveraging a mutagenic substance, he transformed one-third of Skye's indigenous population, the S'kytri, into undead-like servants. Subsequently, Magnus commanded these servants to construct a fortified keep for him atop Canaitith Mountain, the planet's tallest peak, intending to rule from there as the self-proclaimed Magister of Skye. However, the Republic dispatched a team consisting of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Halagad Ventor, all members of the Jedi Order, to intercede. The Jedi successfully infiltrated the stronghold, and Ventor ultimately killed the Magnus clone.

Following the conclusion of the Clone Wars, the Republic was supplanted by the autocratic Galactic Empire. Sometime during the Imperial era, Anakin Skywalker, now the malevolent Dark Lord of the Sith known as Darth Vader, made a return visit to Skye. He imparted the ways of the dark side to Kharys, a female S'kytri who had previously aided him during the conflict with Magnus. By 0 ABY, Kharys, having claimed ownership of Magnus's former stronghold, was granted the title of Majestrix by the Empire. However, the Majestrix met her end in an aerial battle with Luke Skywalker that unfolded above the citadel.

Description

The stronghold of Zeta Magnus was situated on the crest of Canaitith Mountain, with its base seamlessly integrated into the stone of the mountain itself. Constructed entirely from living bloodstone, the stronghold presented a diverse collection of architectural influences. Its rectangular central section was supported by two towers designed in the style of the Serennese nobility. A third tower, significantly taller than the others, emerged from the main section. Each tower was capped with an organic-looking minaret reminiscent of the hive spires found on Geonosis. Together, the three towers appeared to mimic a disrespectful hand gesture of Korunnai origin. Every side of the structure featured flamboyant and impractical windows in the contemporary Onderonian fashion. The most prominent of these windows adorned the front and back of the central section, giving it the form of a double-edged knife.

In contrast to its exterior, the interior of the stronghold was remarkably spartan, with most rooms and corridors finished in reflective yet cold ultrachrome. Nevertheless, the citadel contained a laboratory designed to resemble a dungeon.
