Kikla

According to a Kaminoan story, specifically the legend called "The Tale of the Aiwha Pod," the kikla were a sentient species of diminutive beings that inhabited the water on the planet of Kamino. These creatures gathered in large numbers to contest the significantly larger god-beast known as Protas for control of Kamino's oceans. At the Ancient Trench, the kikla engaged Protas in battle, fighting the mystical entity for an entire month. Their efforts proved futile, however, as the god-beast consumed the final kikla when the new moon appeared. Despite this triumph, Protas was ultimately overcome by a pod of aiwha.

Biology and appearance

The Kaminoan story titled "The Tale of the Aiwha Pod" described the kikla as a small, sentient, water-dwelling species found in the oceans of the planet Kamino. These kikla possessed small teeth.

Society and culture

Despite their small size, the kikla existed in great numbers and highly valued the prestige and honor associated with being the most dominant force in the ocean. Consequently, they challenged the much larger monster-god Protas for supremacy, with the expectation that their numerical advantage would overwhelm him. However, the kikla were known to engage in internal conflicts, even during their battle against Protas.

History

In "The Tale of the Aiwha Pod," a Kaminoan legend concerning the cetacean aiwha, translated by Ryan Kaufman, the kikla amassed a large swarm to challenge the mystical Protas for dominion over Kamino's oceans. The kikla swarm confronted Protas in the deepest parts of the Ancient Trench, engaging the god-beast in combat for a full month. Their strategy was to overwhelm and outlast Protas through their sheer numbers, but the kikla squabbled among themselves and fought inconsistently, only managing to inflict minor wounds with their small teeth. Protas, focused and determined, maintained his strength throughout the prolonged conflict, dispersing the kikla school and gradually consuming them. Finally, as the new moon rose, the god-beast devoured the last of the kikla. However, even after his victory, Protas was eventually defeated by a pod of aiwha.

Behind the scenes

The kikla appeared in the Star Wars Legends short story titled "The Tale of the Aiwha Pod," which was authored by Ryan Kaufman and included in the Star Wars: Republic Commando: Prima Official Game Guide published in 2005.
