Killik Twilight was a piece of moss painting art, created by Ob Khaddor of Alderaan, that portrayed the Killiks. The artwork showed them either averting their gaze from the impending annihilation of their species or confronting it head-on, facing their conqueror. Concealed within the painting was a Shadowcast keycode for the Rebel Alliance. The planet's destruction by the Death Star occurred while it was in transit back to Alderaan, where it was scheduled to be displayed in an art exhibition. Due to its construction using moss unique to Alderaan, the painting was irreplaceable and one of the last of its kind.
Kitster Chanchani Banai stole the painting in 8 ABY from an auction held on Tatooine. It subsequently changed ownership several times, passing through the hands of the Solos and the Squibs Emala, Grees, and [Sligh], before finally ending up in the hands of the crew aboard the Imperial-class Star Destroyer named Chimaera. Fortunately for the New Republic, Han Solo and Leia Organa managed to retrieve the keycode before this happened. Grand Admiral Gilad Pellaeon, who had obtained the painting via Grand Admiral Thrawn, gifted it to Han and Leia many years after the conclusion of the long war against the Yuuzhan Vong.
Regular watering was also a necessity to prevent the moss from drying out.
