The Kimogila was a massive reptilian beast, quite similar to the krayt dragon found on Tatooine, and was naturally found on the world of Lok.

Kimogilas generally reached a size comparable to that of krayt dragons. Due to the presence of sulfurous pools and rivers on Lok, these creatures evolved a layer of exceptionally durable scales, capable of resisting all but the most powerful personal weaponry. They also possessed venom considered among the most potent in the galaxy, able to swiftly incapacitate their targets.
The kimogilas were known for being remarkably hard to eliminate, and their aggressive disposition tempted big-game hunters to pursue them for sport. Their scales were highly valued in the creation of armor, notably Reinforced Insulated Sheath armor.
The skeleton of an especially large kimogila was a well-known landmark on Lok during the era of the Galactic Civil War. Legend tells of settlers deceived into purchasing land near Nym's stronghold, an area plagued by Kimogilas. Shortly after settling, the Kimogilas decimated the settlement, leading to its renaming as Kimogila Town among those aware of its fate. Unwary travelers were sometimes lured by fraudulent guides offering the location of a supposedly beautiful and hidden oasis for payment, only to be abandoned as prey for packs of these large beasts.
Following the Battle of Yavin, scientists, hunters, and explorers observed that older kimogilas had begun to alter their migratory patterns on Lok due to dwindling food resources. Simultaneously, reports emerged of dwarf kimogilas existing on the planet. The origins of these smaller kimogilas remained a mystery, though some speculated they were the result of bioengineer experiments, a claim denied by the Galactic Empire.
Around the same period, an organization dedicated to protecting endangered species, known as Rescue Our Lesser Brothers, asserted responsibility for assisting a group on Lok in raising Kimogilas.
During 1 ABY, a spacer battled and defeated three enraged kimogilas on Lok as part of their trials to achieve the rank of Jedi Knight.
The M12-L Kimogila heavy fighter took its name from this creature, as did the Kimogila Fanatics.

Kimogilas were featured in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before it was shut down on December 15, 2011.
