Klay Firewell was a boy of the Human species, originally from the planet Corulag in the galaxy.
Around 23 BBY, Princess Calvaria of Nallastia orchestrated an ambush by approximately 20 of her warriors, resulting in the abduction of his parents, Hondu and Tattyra Firewell. The Firewells had journeyed to Nallastia for a zoological research trip, aiming to observe the local wildlife. Despite possessing tourist passes issued by a Senator from Fondor, whose authority was disregarded by the warriors (loyal only to the Skull Queen), the Firewells were considered to be trespassing. Consequently, Princess Calvaria imprisoned the couple within a protective energy field.
Near the base of Mount Octan, a volcanic peak in Nallastia, Klay encountered and became friends with Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi Padawan. Skywalker, remembering the forced slavery of his own mother, traveled to the Skull Queen's fortress and held the princess as a hostage, with the aim of securing the release of Klay's parents. Quenelle, Calvaria's mother and the Margravine, gave her consent and worked together with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Skywalker's Master, to find the Lost Stars of Nallastia, three ancient jewels with the ability to deactivate the energy field. The search was successful, culminating in the Cavern of Screaming Skulls, and Klay's parents were eventually freed.
