KM1 mining droid

The KM1 mining droid was a four-legged mining droid engineered for the purpose of extracting and digging up precious ores.

Attributes

The KM1 possessed a squat, crab-like form. Its robust construction incorporated a shield generator to safeguard it against dangers present in its environment. While not exceptionally bright, these droids were proficient in mining tasks. The droid's equipment included a pair of laser cutters that could be employed for both mining operations and defensive measures. The price of each droid was 21,880 credits.

A reinforced version of this droid, designed for demanding excavation work, featured enhanced heavy laser cutters and neutronium plating.

Background

Throughout the Old Republic era, the KM1 saw widespread deployment. A significant number of these droids were employed in the extraction of fuel at the Peragus Mining Facility prior to its destruction in 3951 BBY. Typically, they functioned in small teams, under the direction of an organic or droid overseer. Duwani manufactured multiple variations of the mining droid, based on the KM1 platform, to meet the requirements of various mining projects.
