Knights of the Old Republic: Opportunities

Plot summary

The following is a recap of the narrative, presented from the perspective that the Republic was victorious in all engagements except for the final one.

Following the presumed demise of Darth Revan, Darth Malak assumes leadership of the burgeoning Sith military. The Jedi Order discerns this as the optimal moment to launch an offensive against the Sith. An unidentified Dark Jedi has received intelligence concerning a clandestine research installation responsible for the production of sophisticated battle droids. This Dark Jedi then assembles a team comprised of:

• 2 Sith Troopers
• 1 Sith Trooper Commander
• 1 Sith Assault Droid
• 1 Dark Side Enforcer
• 1 Dark Jedi

The Dark Jedi acts as the team's leader. To maintain secrecy from the Republic, the Sith leader contracts the services of a mercenary ship, the Darkmoon. Despite the Dark Jedi's desire for secrecy, the Republic discovers the mission and dispatches its own specialized team, consisting of:

• 2 Old Republic Soldiers
• 2 Old Republic Commanders
• 1 Jedi Sentinel
• 1 Jedi Guardian
• 1 Jedi Consular

The objective of this team is to intercept the Darkmoon. Following a successful engagement against the Sith crew, the Jedi team forges an alliance with the mercenaries aboard the Darkmoon. They land near the facility, only to discover a group of pirates and a single advanced droid known as HK-47. Furthermore, the Darkmoon sustains substantial damage and requires replacement parts. The combined Jedi and mercenary team now includes:

• 1 Jedi Guardian
• 1 Old Republic Commander
• 1 Old Republic Soldier
• 1 Chagrian Mercenary Soldier
• 1 Shistavanen Pilot
• 1 Gotal Fringer
• 1 Devaronian Soldier
• 1 Nautolan Soldier

Their current objectives involve acquiring the necessary components for the Darkmoon and securing HK-47. The pirate contingent is composed of:

• HK-47
• 1 Quarren Assassin
• 1 Zabrak Fringer
• 1 Human Mercenary
• 1 Mon Calamari Mercenary
• 1 Gamorrean Guard
• T3-R5
• 1 Arcona Smuggler

The combined forces of the Jedi and mercenaries successfully defeat the pirates and secure the advanced droid. A Republic rescue vessel arrives soon after, eliminating the remaining pirates. However, a search of the pirate base reveals that the pirates intended to meet with Darth Malak at an unsecured location to sell him the advanced droid. The strike team decides to proceed to the meeting point and confront Darth Malak, assembling a force consisting of:

• 1 Jedi Guardian
• 1 Jedi Consular
• 1 Old Republic Commander
• 2 Old Republic Soldiers
• 1 Shistavanen Pilot
• 1 Twi'lek Bodyguard

Upon arrival at the designated location, they encounter:

• Darth Malak
• 1 Dark Jedi Master
• 1 Dark Jedi

Tragically, the Republic team is unable to defeat Malak, resulting in the complete defeat of the entire strike force.
