The Kressh lineage comprised Sith Purebloods who functioned as Sith Lords during the eras of both the original and the re-established Sith Empires. Ludo Kressh stood out as the most notable member, recognized for his traditionalist views and intense rivalry with Naga Sadow for the position of successor to the previous Dark Lord, Marka Ragnos. Despite losing this contest, Kressh orchestrated a false demise during a battle against Sadow's forces to rebuild his own power base. Subsequently, while Sadow was engaged in combat with the Galactic Republic and the Jedi during the Great Hyperspace War, Kressh consolidated his strength. Upon Sadow's defeated return to the Empire, Kressh revealed himself, proclaimed himself the new Dark Lord, and attempted to permanently exile Sadow. However, Kressh met his true end above Korriban when Sadow directed a crippled vessel to collide with Kressh's ship in a suicide attack.
Ludo's death marked the end for him, but the Kressh lineage persisted. He had at least one offspring, a son named Elcho, also known as Kressh the Younger, who was safely hidden on a distant planet. Elcho eventually sought vengeance against the Republic and the Jedi by amassing a makeshift force of mercenaries and pirates for an invasion; however, he succumbed to a ruptured stomach due to excessive drinking before his plan could be executed.
Another significant descendant of Ludo was the esteemed alchemist Vodal Kressh. This Sith Lord resided in the reconstituted Sith Empire centuries prior to the Great Galactic War, until he rebelled against the Emperor and sought refuge on the planet Athiss. There, he intended to raise an army to challenge the Sith Empire, but he died before his scheme could be realized. Even after his death, Vodal's followers and their descendants remained on Athiss, guarding his tomb.
Other descendants of Ludo served the Sith Emperor's reformed Empire, notably the Emperor's apprentice Exal Kressh, who grew disillusioned and attempted to betray him. Prior to her treachery, the Kressh name was held in high regard, as its members were considered great champions of the Sith cause. Exal's attempt to sabotage the Emperor's Children project failed, resulting in her death.
In response to her betrayal, the Emperor declared the Kressh name anathema and ordered the eradication of all traces of the family from the Empire's history, hoping to prevent future opposition from his apprentice's relatives. Despite this decree, the Kressh name and lineage endured, continuing to produce rebellious Lords and scions well into the Empire's later years.
