The kyber dart represents a poisonous projectile dart manufactured by the Kaminoans hailing from Kamino. It was utilized in the era of the Dark Wars.
Due to their comprehensive understanding of genetic manipulation and alien biology, the Kaminoans were able to formulate the biological toxins present within the kyber dart. These cone-shaped projectiles were capable of inflicting death with great effectiveness. Mira, a bounty hunter who was known to be active on Nar Shaddaa in the aftermath of the Jedi Civil War, possessed a collection of kyber darts, which she deployed from a dart launcher affixed to her wrist.
Many years afterward, near the end of the Galactic Republic period, the Kaminoans developed the saberdart, which was a more sophisticated iteration of the kyber dart.
In the shooting script for Attack of the Clones, the Kamino saberdart was originally referred to as a "Kamino kyberdart." The "kyber" portion of the name originates from an unrealized idea conceived for A New Hope: the kyber crystal, which was ultimately adapted into the Kaiburr crystal featured in Splinter of the Mind's Eye.
