Kamino saberdart

The Kamino saberdart was a toxic dart variety developed by the Kaminoans from the planet of Kamino. Jango Fett, a bounty hunter, utilized one of these darts to kill Zam Wesell after she failed her mission to assassinate Senator Padmé Amidala. Subsequently, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker captured the dart to prevent Wesell from revealing her employer to the Jedi. Obi-Wan, unable to find information in the Jedi Archives, took the dart to Dexter Jettster at his diner for identification; the dart was easily identifiable due to small cuts on its side.

During the Galactic Empire's reign, records from Sienar Fleet Systems' Advanced Projects Laboratory located on Lothal, a planet in the Outer Rim, indicate that Grand Admiral Thrawn brought a Kamino saberdart to the facility. The Chiss Admiral aimed to engineer a superior starfighter, specifically the TIE Defender. The records show Thrawn employed the saberdart to illustrate the proposed wing configurations and placements of the Defenders, emphasizing the enhanced speed and maneuverability the TIE Defenders would possess compared to other fighters, as well as the "unparalleled" pilot visibility afforded by the design.

Behind the scenes

The original shooting script for Attack of the Clones referred to the saberdart as a "Kamino kyberdart," but this name was later revised.

In the non-canonical video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga from 2022, Kamino saberdarts are depicted as syringe-shaped LEGO pieces. Mirroring the film, Wesell is struck by a dart outside the Outlander Club, causing her to collapse; however, three additional darts are then launched into a dartboard being carried by two patrons exiting the club. All three darts hit the bullseye. Wesell then sits up, removes the dart from her neck, and hands it to Kenobi before losing consciousness again.

Subsequently, Kenobi brings the dart to Jettster, as in the film, but after Jettster returns the dart, the Jedi clumsily drops it, accidentally launching it into the back of a nearby customer. The startled customer throws their food into the air, which lands on their head, causing them to collapse. As other customers and the waitress Wanda gather around the unconscious patron to investigate, Kenobi quickly leaves the diner to avoid suspicion.
