Dex's Diner

Dex's Diner, a modest restaurant, could be found within the run-down industrial sector of CoCo Town on the world of Coruscant. Dexter Jettster, a Besalisk of notable history, held ownership and managed the establishment.

Description

Dexter Jettster serving popular cuisine from the diner kitchen.

The eatery primarily catered to the local workforce, providing them with homemade dishes and freshly made ardees, also known as "Jawa Juice." Jettster functioned as the head chef, supported by three service personnel: two humans, Wanda and Hermione Bagwa, and their WA-7 waitress droid colleague, FLO. Dex's Diner also featured items such as the Shawda club sandwich priced at 6.7 galactic credits and available on toasted or therm-zapped bread, the Sic-Six-layer cake, a favored dessert sold per slice for 2.5 credits, and the Photon Fizzle costing 1.7 credits. Credit chips were an accepted payment method at Dex's Diner.

Due to Dex's accommodating attitude and his principle of respecting customer privacy, Dex's Diner often became a rendezvous point for individuals engaged in criminal activities.

History

In the period leading up to the Clone Wars, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi visited Dex's Diner, seeking Jettster's expertise in identifying a poisoned dart. Jettster successfully identified its origin as the planet Kamino, information he gained during his earlier career as a prospector.

Around 16 BBY, Jettster relinquished ownership of the diner. Although Jettster initially believed the closure to be temporary, he was unable to reopen it, leaving the diner in a state of disuse for approximately two and a half decades. Following the Galactic Empire's defeat during the Battle of Endor, Dex's Diner remained closed and abandoned.

During the New Republic Era, an author expressed nostalgic sentiments towards Dex's Diner in the survival guide "Species From A to Z." In 9 ABY, a holographic advertisement for Dex's Diner was featured in Coruscant Underworld, a battlefield inspired by the shadowy depths of the urban planet Coruscant, during the competitive sporting event Hunters of the Outer Rim.

Behind the scenes

In The High Republic: Into the Dark, a novel, a Coruscant restaurant is described bearing similar characteristics to Dex's Diner: "checkered floors, shiny red seats, and waiter droids that rolled around on impractical wheels." However, no source has confirmed that these are the same establishment.
