Hunters of the Outer Rim was a televised competitive spectacle taking place inside the Grand Arena on the planet Vespaara. This show featured diverse warriors from all over the galaxy battling one another. These competitors, called "Hunters", participated in team-based fights, hoping to achieve wealth and recognition, all while being watched by excited crowds. The tournament, set during the New Republic Era, showcased a changing roster of participants, such as the dark side warrior Rieve and the steadfast Mandalorian Aran Tal, both fighting as "hunters." Aran Tal entered the competition in 9 ABY, with Rieve becoming a participant around the same year.
The canon video game Star Wars: Hunters marked the initial appearance of Hunters of the Outer Rim. NaturalMotion's BossAlien developed the game, and Zynga released it as a soft launch in certain regions on November 16, 2021, before its worldwide debut on June 4, 2024. Design Director Scott Warner mentioned in an interview that several aspects of Hunters of the Outer Rim, including the personalities within the arena and the different arena settings, drew inspiration from professional wrestling.
