Laren Omas served as a Colonel within the Republic Special Forces Division.
Several weapons research initiatives for the Republic received support and supervision from Laren Omas. Omas was in charge of creating both the super dreadnaught known as the Star of Coruscant and the Shadow Arsenal. Before this, the officer had collaborated with numerous scientists that Omas recruited for the team, who at first questioned the group's objective. The Colonel's aim was to create a weapon capable of defeating the Imperial menace.
Omas met his death on Hoth. The Star of Coruscant was taken out of orbit, crashing onto the ice world's surface and attracting scavengers. Except for doctor Nasan Godera, the team's leader, the Shadow Arsenal's science team dispersed. Godera secretly continued working to finish the Arsenal on Quesh.
