The Larrin sector existed within the Inner Rim region. The Filordis planet, a rocky world and the original home of the Filordus species, a sentient race, was situated inside this sector. In 33 BBY, Caarite individuals visited the Filordi on their native planet, extending an invitation to collaborate in the establishment of the Metatheran Cartel. During the Imperial Era, J'fe Din, a holovid performer, secretly used her well-known melodramatic show, Starflash, to transmit crucial data to Rebel Alliance operatives within the Larrin sector, thereby accelerating the fall of Imperial control in that location.
The Northern Dependencies area of the Inner Rim was the location of the Larrin sector. The Filordis system was part of it.
The well-known melodramatic holovid series Starflash was broadcast for three years in the Larrin sector while it was under the Galactic Empire's control. The series cemented J'fe Din's position as the most well-known vidstar in the sector, placing her at the top of the Larrin sector's vid charts. Din and her producer secretly sent crucial information, including codes, passwords, and messages, to Rebel Alliance agents working in the sector, unbeknownst to the Imperial authorities in the Larrin sector or the show's millions of viewers.
When the Empire's authority in the Larrin sector was overthrown, Starflash came to an end, with Din's actions hastening the regime's demise there by at least a year. Din then declared her unwavering support for the New Republic, which took the Alliance's place after the beginning of the Empire's collapse in 4 ABY. Later, the holovid actress starred in Imperial Truth, a docudrama series created in the Larrin sector that depicted the realities of the Imperial reign. Din's ongoing public support for the New Republic greatly enhanced the government's standing in the Larrin sector.
The rocky world Filordis was located in the Larrin sector's Filordis system. The Galactic Republic explored the space surrounding Filordis sometime between 25,000 BBY and 20,000 BBY, and by the time of the Great Sith War in 3996 BBY, Filordis was a part of the civilized galaxy. A hyperlane that traversed the sector at that time linked Filordis to the Nouane and Tirahnn systems; however, by the time the Mandalorian Wars were fought twenty years later, that hyperspace route had vanished.
In 33 BBY, the Filordi, the sentient inhabitants of Filordis, encountered members of the Caarite species on the Filordi's homeworld. The Filordi accepted the Caarites' invitation to join them as partners in a new business endeavor, the Metatheran Cartel.
The 1995 Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game supplement Heroes & Rogues from West End Games, written by Paul Sudlow and Rick Stuart, was the first time the Larrin sector was mentioned.
