Lasavvou

Following the Jedi Civil War, an Ithorian male named Lasavvou (male) found himself marooned on the moon of Nar Shaddaa. This Ithorian operated as a courier, transporting various goods throughout the galaxy. In 3951 BBY, he was in the midst of such a delivery, carrying a substantial cargo of cryogenic power cells destined for a contact he was to meet on the aforementioned moon. Regrettably, his contact failed to appear, rendering him incapable of settling the departure levy imposed by the dock authority, an arm of the Exchange syndicate. Consequently, he was refused permission to depart, and the authority threatened to impound his ship. Meetra Surik came to his aid, successfully negotiating a waiver for the departure fee on his behalf. In return, Lasavvou gifted the Exile with one of the power cells and pledged to transport a refugee, Kahranna, and her family away from the moon. However, his true intention was to abandon the refugees, but Surik used Force persuaded to convince him to assist the family.

Biography

Lasavvou, an Ithorian of the male gender, made his living by transporting various shipments across the galaxy. At some unknown point, he became a member of the Ithorian Supremacy League, the details of which he kept secret. In the year 3951 BBY, while in the process of delivering cryogenic power cells, Lasavvou became stuck on the moon of Nar Shaddaa, located within the Outer Rim Territories. Despite having sufficient credits to cover the landing fee at the docks, his contact never arrived, leaving him unable to pay the 600-credit departure fee demanded by the dock authority – a faction of the Exchange criminal organization. As a result, the dock authority threatened to seize his starship and confiscate his cargo. Using the credits he had, he rented a room in a flophouse near the docks while trying to earn enough credits to pay the fee.

Later, Meetra Surik approached the Ithorian, who initially mistook her for a representative of the dock authority. Surik offered to find a way to have his departure fee waived, and Lasavvou promised her one of the power cells if she succeeded. Surik spoke to Fassa, the dock master, about waiving the fee and they settled on the condition that Lasavvou would give him one of the power cells in exchange. Lasavvou was delighted to hear that Surik was able to negotiate the fee and gladly gave Fassa a power cell. With the Ithorian's gratitude, Surik received her power cell as well. Surik also requested that Lasavvou transport Kahranna, a woman from the Refugee Sector, and her family off the moon. The Ithorian secretly intended to leave without them, but Surik detected his deception and used the Force to persuade him to take them along.

Personality and traits

Lasavvou was a courier who piloted his own starship and identified as a male Ithorian. He held strong beliefs in Ithorian supremacy, harboring a dislike for other species whom he believed looked down upon Ithorians, which led him to join the Ithorian Supremacy League. However, after accidentally mentioning the league's name to Surik, he refused to discuss it further and pretended to know nothing about it. His animosity towards other races led him to attempt to abandon Kahranna and her family, despite having agreed to take them off-moon. Surik uncovered his plan and used the Force to persuade him to honor his commitment. Despite his prejudice against other species, he was willing to accept assistance from a Human when it served his interests.

Behind the scenes

Lasavvou appears as a non-playable character in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, a game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and released in 2004. His name is misspelled as "Lassavou" on two occasions within the game.

The exchange with Lasavvou offers several options, encompassing both light and dark alignments. Should the Exile embrace the dark side when the Ithorian inquires about her affiliation with the dock authority, the player can claim to be affiliated and negotiate a lower price. Lasavvou will then provide her with 200 credits to secure additional time to pay the fee, but will sever all future contact with the Exile. Alternatively, the player can inform Lasavvou that their characters intend to seize his possessions, prompting him to attack the Exile, resulting in his death.

If the Exile follows the light side of the Force, which is the canonical choice, she talks to Fassa about the problem. Earlier in the game, the Exile has the opportunity to help Fassa with reordering ships that had docked; had she done this, Fassa waives the departure fee. If the Exile has not done so, she either pays the departure fee or arranges for Lasavvou to give Fassa some of the power cells in exchange for allowing the Ithorian passage off the moon; the Exile is still given a cell of her own in thanks. Depending on the player's Awareness stats, the player may or may not notice when Lasavvou lies about his deal to transport Kahranna off-moon. If the Exile does not have enough Awareness points to do so, Lasavvou leaves without the family and the Exile is forced to find alternate transportation for them.
