Lasavvou

Following the conclusion of the Jedi Civil War, a male Ithorian named Lasavvou found himself marooned on the moon of Nar Shaddaa. This Ithorian, whose profession involved transporting various goods across the galaxy, was in the midst of such a delivery circa 3951 BBY. He was carrying a substantial quantity of cryogenic power cells destined for a contact scheduled to meet him on the aforementioned moon. Regrettably, his contact failed to appear, rendering him incapable of settling the departure levy imposed by the dock authority, an arm of the Exchange syndicate. Consequently, he was refused permission to depart, and the authority threatened to impound his ship. Assistance arrived in the form of Meetra Surik, who successfully negotiated a waiver of the departure fee on his behalf. In return for this favor, Lasavvou provided the Exile with one of the power cells and pledged to transport a refugee, Kahranna, along with her family, away from the moon. However, his true intention was to abandon the refugees, but Surik employed Force persuasion to ensure he honored his commitment to assist the family.

Biography

Lasavvou, a male Ithorian, operated as a courier, transporting shipments throughout the galaxy. At some point in his life, he became affiliated with the Ithorian Supremacy League, the particulars of which he declined to disclose. In 3951 BBY, while engaged in the delivery of cryogenic power cells, Lasavvou became stranded on the moon Nar Shaddaa, situated in the Outer Rim Territories. Despite having sufficient credits to cover the landing fee at the docks, the absence of his contact left him unable to pay the 600-credit departure fee demanded by the dock authority, which was an affiliate of the Exchange crime syndicate. The dock authority threatened to impound his starship and confiscate the cargo due to this unpaid fee. Utilizing his remaining credits, he secured lodging in a flophouse near the docks, intending to accumulate enough credits to settle the outstanding fee.

Subsequently, Meetra Surik approached the Ithorian, whom he initially mistook for a representative of the dock authority. Surik proposed to find a means of waiving the departure fee, and Lasavvou offered her one of the power cells as a reward for her success. Surik engaged in discussions with Fassa, the dock master, regarding the fee waiver, ultimately agreeing that Lasavvou would provide Fassa with one of the power cells in exchange. Lasavvou expressed his gratitude upon learning of Surik's successful negotiation and willingly provided Fassa with a power cell. In return for the Ithorian's appreciation, Surik received her own power cell. Furthermore, Surik requested that Lasavvou transport Kahranna, a woman from the Refugee Sector, along with her family, away from the moon. However, the Ithorian secretly planned to abandon the family, a deception that Surik detected, leading her to employ the Force to persuade him to honor his commitment and take them with him.

Personality and traits

Lasavvou, an Ithorian male, functioned as a courier, piloting his own starship. He held strong beliefs in Ithorian supremacy, harboring a dislike for other species due to his perception that they viewed Ithorians with disdain, and consequently joined the Ithorian Supremacy League. However, after inadvertently mentioning the organization's name to Surik, he refused to discuss it further and feigned ignorance. His prejudice against other races motivated him to attempt to abandon Kahranna and her family when he had agreed to transport them off-moon. Surik uncovered his deceit and employed Force persuasion to compel the Ithorian to uphold his promise. Despite his aversion to other species, he was not averse to accepting assistance from a Human when it served his interests.

Behind the scenes

Lasavvou appears as a non-playable character in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, a game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and released in 2004. The name "Lasavvou" is misspelled as "Lassavou" on two occasions within the game.

During the interaction with Lasavvou, players have several options, both aligned with the light and dark sides of the Force. Should the Exile embrace the dark path when the Ithorian inquires about her affiliation with the dock authority, the player can assert that she is indeed affiliated and offer to negotiate a reduced price. In this scenario, Lasavvou will provide her with 200 credits to secure additional time to pay the fee, but will subsequently cease communication with the Exile. Alternatively, the player can inform Lasavvou that their characters intend to seize his possessions, prompting him to attack the Exile, resulting in his death.

Conversely, if the Exile aligns with the light side of the Force, which is considered the canonical choice, she engages in discussions with Fassa regarding the issue. Earlier in the game, the Exile has the opportunity to assist Fassa with reorganizing docked ships; should she have done so, Fassa will waive the departure fee. If the Exile has not completed this task, she can either settle the departure fee herself or arrange for Lasavvou to provide Fassa with some of the power cells in exchange for allowing the Ithorian to depart the moon; the Exile will still receive a cell as a token of gratitude. Depending on the player's Awareness stats, they may or may not detect Lasavvou's deception regarding his agreement to transport Kahranna off-moon. If the Exile lacks sufficient Awareness points to discern the lie, Lasavvou will depart without the family, compelling the Exile to seek alternative transportation for them.
