Lee Towersey

Lee Towersey is a member of the R2-D2 Builders Club. This group of enthusiasts is dedicated to the construction of fully operational and visually accurate droid models originating from the Star Wars universe. During the Celebration Europe II event in the summer of 2013, Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy recruited Towersey, along with fellow droid builder Oliver Steeples, to contribute to the production of _Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens](/article/star_wars:_episode_vii_the_force_awakens). Their primary focus, as part of the film's creature effects team, was the creation of astromech droids at Pinewood Studios. Following The Force Awakens, Towersey continued his involvement in subsequent Star Wars films, a path not followed by Steeples. Towersey's role expanded to include droid operation in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and he is currently working on Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. Consequently, he has participated in every Star Wars movie released under the Disney banner.
