Lesia

Lesia originated from Naboo, a planet, and was a female. She was the great-granddaughter of Pars Varqom, who had retired from his position as a Palace Guard within the Royal Naboo Security Forces. For 18 years, Varqom served as a Pearl Hat under seven different monarchs, starting with King Ars Veruna and ending with Queen Mairayni. The Royal Archives of Naboo recorded his memoirs, including references to Lesia, in their 2,453rd volume.

Lesia considered her great-grandfather to be "old-fashioned" because he held anti-droid sentiment and refused to purchase goods made by Neimoidians, Duros, or from corporations such as Tagge Company and those located on Balmorra and Kuat that aided both sides during the Invasion of Naboo.

Behind the scenes

Ultimately, Jason Fry, the author of The Essential Guide to Warfare, removed all mentions of Lesia from the final version. The character was later established as canonical through the StarWars.com blog post titled Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare: Author's Cut, Part 6 — Showdown at Naboo. Fry drew inspiration for Varqom's story from World War II veterans he knew who vowed never to buy cars manufactured in Japan following the war.
