An Alliance of Free Planets force, which included Colonel Onassi, seized the prison planet of Ord Vaug from the Imperial forces in 4 ABY, subsequent to the Battle of Endor.
The Alliance found Lillindri Nanimei Filda Vandelhelm XXXII and Endrodanar Tiopuld Shaamador Vandelhelm XXIV, the young Venerated Ones of Vandelhelm, inside a detention center. They had been prisoners on the planet for three years. As a result, the Alliance needed an escort to return the nobles back to their home planet. General Han Solo was chosen due to his piloting abilities by his longtime friend, General Lando Calrissian.
