Ord Vaug

Ord Vaug was a planet situated within the Rocantor sector of the Expansion Region. This planet was the location of a significant victory for the Imperial forces, who used it for propaganda purposes against remaining Separatist holdouts in 17 BBY. Furthermore, Ord Vaug housed an Imperial prison where, at one point, the Venerated Ones from Vandelhelm were incarcerated. The Alliance of Free Planets liberated Ord Vaug in 4 ABY, leading to the Venerated Ones' return to their home.

Description

Located in the Ord Vaug system within the Rocantor sector of the Expansion Region, the planet Ord Vaug possessed a natural environment characterized by rainforests. Its atmosphere was readily breathable for Humans.

History

Ord Vaug's history includes its role as one of the Galactic Republic's Ordnance/Regional Depots during the Pius Dea Era, specifically during the Fifteenth Pius Dea Crusade which centered around nearby Old Barag in 11,591 BBY. Many years afterward, Ord Vaug became the stage for a widely publicized battle as part of the Imperial Western Reaches Operation in 17 BBY, fought against Separatist holdouts. In this conflict, General Hurst Romodi achieved a significant triumph in front of HoloNet News crews. The battle on Ord Vaug was later adapted into a holodrama.

During the Imperial Period, Ord Vaug functioned as an Imperial prison that housed foreign dignitaries, notably the young Venerated Ones from the planet Vandelhelm. Lillindri "Lilli" Nanimei Filda Vandelhelm XXXII and her younger brother Endrodanar "Endro" Tiopuld Shaamador Vandelhelm XXIV were confined on Ord Vaug for a three-year period as part of a strategy to impose Imperial control over Vandelhelm's valuable metalsmithing industry. In 4 ABY, the Alliance of Free Planets liberated Ord Vaug, which resulted in the prisoners being freed. Subsequently, Han Solo and Nien Nunb, heroes of the Alliance, were sent to Ord Vaug to escort the Venerated Ones back to their home.

Behind the scenes

Ord Vaug made a brief appearance in Star Wars (1977) 98, which was written by Archie Goodwin, illustrated by Al Williamson, and released in 1985. Initially identified only as an Imperial prison planet, Ord Vaug was later given its name in the 2004 Vandelhelm: Enemies and Alloys supplement by Wizards of the Coast, penned by Cory J. Herndon.
