Lizard-crows existed as a species native to the Mustafar world's lava plains. It was common knowledge that these creatures would flee in terror from what the Mustafarian priestess Sssl called "molten men." In approximately 12 BBY, during the attack led by Mother Sssl against the fortress of the Sith Lord Darth Vader, using an army of plagued Mustafarians, her goal was to drive out the Imperial forces stationed at the castle, drawing a parallel to the way molten men frightened lizard-crows.
The 2019 Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader's Castle comic series featured lizard-crows in flashback sequences in its fifth issue. IDW Publishing released the issue, penned by Cavan Scott, on October 30, 2019.
