Lozz Beraf
Lozz Beraf was a male human who held the position of captain aboard the Stellar Rise, a cruiser belonging to the Galactic Republic. During the period known as the Clone Wars, the vessel was infiltrated by General Grievous of the Separatist forces. Grievous proceeded to kill the entire crew with the exception of Beraf, whom he intimidated until Jedi Knight Anap Ree-Di appeared on the bridge. Ree-Di then led Grievous away, ultimately compelling him to abandon the ship.
Biography
Lozz Beraf, a male human, served the Galactic Republic within its Navy. He was the commanding officer of the Arquitens-class light cruiser called the Stellar Rise. With the rank of captain, he fought alongside Jedi Knight Anap Ree-Di during the Clone Wars against the forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Beraf was caught entirely off guard when General Grievous of the Separatists infiltrated the Stellar Rise. Grievous, along with his IG-100 MagnaGuards, eliminated the entire deck crew in less than a minute. Beraf's life was spared, but he remained in a state of shock and fear as Grievous demanded his name. The captain uttered it in a defiant tone, while simultaneously being perplexed as to how the Separatists had managed to gain access to his cruiser.
Grievous was amused by Beraf's shock, believing that his disbelief would prevent him from mounting any resistance against the invaders. As the general continued to speak, he mentioned the apparent absence of any Jedi on board. At this, he noticed a reaction from Beraf, which indicated to Grievous that the captain was concealing the presence of such a warrior. Indeed, Ree-Di then revealed herself, ordering Grievous to release her captain and leave the vessel. Following a brief exchange of blows with the MagnaGuards, Ree-Di fled from the bridge, forcing Grievous to pursue her. At some point during their battle, Beraf activated an alarm. Ultimately, Ree-Di managed to trick Grievous into entering an escape pod, which she then ejected from the Stellar Rise.
Personality and traits
Despite the terror induced by Grievous's presence, Beraf exhibited defiance while speaking to the general. He failed to conceal Anap Ree-Di's presence, as his eyes betrayed him under pressure.

The character of Lozz Beraf was conceived for "Galactic Tales: Saber Truth," the second story in the Galactic Tales short story series. Richard Dinnick authored the story, which appeared in issue 210 of Star Wars Insider on May 3, 2022.
