This magenta-colored lightsaber, distinguished by its blade, was wielded by Mara Jade Skywalker, who served as an Emperor's Hand. Emperor Palpatine gifted her a unique crystal, from which she fashioned this lightsaber upon becoming an Emperor's Hand. Although she had infrequently utilized a lightsaber before her association with Talon Karrde's organization, Mara employed it alongside her hold-out blaster during the Galactic Civil War on planets such as Svivren, Chibias, and Kintoni, and within the Shelsha sector. She subsequently lost the weapon on Caprioril following the Battle of Endor, during her duel against Lumiya.
Mara Jade is pictured with her lightsaber following the Battle of Endor. Years afterward, Mara Jade became a member of the New Jedi Order and, as part of her path to becoming a Jedi Knight, she constructed a new lightsaber that emitted a purple blade.
The hilt's official design for this lightsaber was revealed in promotional images featuring Shannon McRandle, the model for Mara. A notable example is the cover of Star Wars Insider 47.
In 2008, Master Replicas produced a limited run of 750 prop replicas of Mara Jade's lightsaber. Each replica included a plaque signed by Shannon McRandle.
