Maro Vizhen, a female Human, was a member of the reconstituted Sith Empire during the time of the Cold War. Within the Imperial Diplomatic Service, she functioned as a diplomat and was the head of Special Operations. Vizhen played a role in establishing the Shadow Syndicate and became embroiled in a conflict with Ukabi, who was the crime boss of the Exchange.
In the year 3643 BBY, Vizhen was dispatched to Nar Shaddaa with the task of overseeing the creation of the Shadow Syndicate. This Syndicate was an alliance of four of the planet's most influential crime lords, and was associated with the Empire. However, Ukabi, the leader of the local Exchange faction, declined to participate, which necessitated Vizhen to enlist the help of a powerful individual aligned with the Empire to handle him.
Vizhen's effort to weaken Ukabi's operation turned out to be a serious mistake, as the crime boss launched a fierce counterattack targeting the Syndicate's interests across Nar Shaddaa. Vizhen's enforcer chose to assault Ukabi's headquarters and eliminate him while the majority of his forces were occupied with the widespread attacks. Although the enforcer's attack achieved some success, Vizhen was double-crossed by Godoba the Hutt, a Syndicate member, and was trapped by Ukabi at her base. She was ultimately rescued by the timely intervention of her enforcer, but was then executed for her failure to properly manage the situation.
