Matari, a figure from Coruscant's distant past, was revered as one of its gods. During the High Republic Era, Lina Soh, who served as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic around 231 BBY, chose to name one of her pet targons, specifically a male one, in honor of this ancient deity.
Cavan Scott included Matari in his 2021 novel, The High Republic: The Rising Storm, which was part of the broader Star Wars: The High Republic initiative.
