Matter catalyst

Matter catalysts, which are also called blenders, were devices that enabled space journeys. The vast majority of homes on Urthha had at least one matter catalyst.

When Duros newly married couple Etro and Droza Edthatt were taken to Urthha against their will, they were successful in their escape by utilizing matter catalysts.

Behind the scenes

A supermarket tabloid spoof, credited to Trebor Uarrac from the Galactic Gossip, included the matter catalyst in Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas. This book, released in 1993, merged images and early designs from the original trilogy and other Lucasfilm projects with various brief fictional works. The story tells of two Duros newlyweds, Etro and Droza Edthatt, who are "abducted by human beings" from the world of Urthha. Following more than four Urthha years of strange happenings, they manage to depart the planet by employing a "matter catalyst," known to the humans as a "blender."

Leland Chee, a Lucasfilm staff member who manages the Holocron continuity database, has stated that the details presented in the book are non-canonical.
