MD-5 medical droid

Weston Warsheld with his MD-5 medical droid The MD-5 general practitioner medical droid, also known as the MD-5 medical droid, represented a model within the realm of medical droids. It was a creation of Industrial Automaton and an element of the MD-series. Its design exhibited a subtle humanoid quality. These droids found application as versatile medical droids.

Weston Warsheld, the High Lord of House Calipsa from the Tapani sector, utilized an MD-5 medical droid. Furthermore, another MD-5 unit, identified as Emdee, provided service to the ersatz Emperor Trioculus during his role as a figurehead in the Grand Moff coup attempt.

A particular MD-5 unit, designated SH∑1-B, played a role in assisting the bounty hunter Dengar in the care of his injured associate, Boba Fett. This occurred after the Mandalorian managed to escape from the Sarlacc on Tatooine.

There is record of at least one of these droids operating alongside a Mon Calamari medical team on Mon Calamari, which served as the headquarters for the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances at that time.

Behind the scenes

The outward appearance of Emdee, who served Trioculus, presented a significant divergence from other MD-series models. It also contrasted with other depictions of the MD-5 found in the Lords of the Expanse sourcebook.
