MedStar-class frigate

The MedStar-class frigate represents a class of frigate designed for medical purposes. These vessels were utilized by the Republic Navy throughout the Clone Wars, a conflict spanning from 22 BBY to 19 BBY that pitted the Galactic Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Clone troopers who sustained injuries and needed extended medical attention were moved from Republic Mobile Surgical Units to more extensive medical centers, with the MedStar-class frigates serving as one such facility.

Behind the scenes

The MedStar-class frigate received its initial mention within the new Star Wars canon through Rise of the Separatists. This publication was a 2019 addition to the Star Wars Roleplaying game line produced by Fantasy Flight Games. The MedStar-class frigates were initially conceived for the Star Wars Legends timeline, debuting in the 2004 book MedStar I: Battle Surgeons, which was co-authored by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry.
