The Megadroid, a superweapon and battle droid hybrid, was engineered by Baktoid Combat Automata on behalf of the Confederacy of Independent Systems on the planet Golatha during the Clone Wars. During that conflict, Jedi Masters Yoda and Anakin Skywalker embarked on a special assignment to Golatha with the goal of obliterating the manufacturing facility producing these droids. Although the factory was destroyed, a single prototype survived, which the two Jedi managed to defeat, albeit after a considerable struggle.
Megadroids possessed a specialized durasteel armor plating significantly tougher than standard models, making them impervious to attacks from lightsabers. They were armed with claws resembling an Electrostaff and had the capacity for rapid atmospheric flight, capable of exiting a planet's atmosphere very quickly.
