The midwife droid represented a type of medical droid that could be found across the galaxy throughout the Clone Wars. These droids were engineered to deliver babies from diverse species without complications, and to guarantee the well-being and security of the newly born infants. An example of this was the Chroon-Tan B-Machine, with one unit functioning within the medical facility situated on the asteroid known as Polis Massa. It was there that it assisted in the delivery of the twins belonging to Senator Padmé Amidala, named Luke and Leia. Sadly, following the delivery of her children, the mother lost her desire to live and ultimately passed away.
