Putna's prior experience as a librarian gave him knowledge of the data storage system's organization. During the Battle of Scarif, when the rebel group Rogue One breached the Citadel, the security droid K-2SO, who had been reprogrammed by the rebels, subdued Putna. Subsequently, Cassian Jeron Andor and Jyn Erso transported the incapacitated officer to the vault's main entrance, utilizing his hand's biometrics to unlock it.
