The Mingula, identified as a ZZ-class freighter, suffered a catastrophic loss of its entire crew due to an infestation of Ubuugan fleshborers. This tragedy occurred while the vessel was in transit from Ubuuga headed towards Coruscant. The freighter's ultimate purpose was to transport the remains of Volpau, who was the recently-deceased third cousin of the Emperor Palpatine, to the Imperial capital for a ceremonial cremation. In addition to this solemn cargo, the Mingula was also laden with a substantial quantity of vehicles and machinery, which were very likely the belongings of the deceased.
Boba Fett came across the apparently deserted freighter while on his way to Coruscant, transporting a captured target. After assessing the freighter's worth and determining it to be in excess of ten million Imperial credits, he resolved to recover as much of its contents as possible. However, after his associate Tsumo was assaulted and killed by a horde of fleshborers, Fett was compelled to make a hasty retreat. Employing his flamethrower to defend himself against the lethal creatures, he inadvertently ignited the ship's power generators. Fett managed to escape through the refuse disposal system moments before the entire freighter exploded.
