Volpau, a male Human, is a figure shrouded in mystery, with the singular known fact being his status as the third cousin of Emperor Palpatine.
It was believed that Volpau, a man of considerable wealth, met his end due to unknown causes on the planet Ubuuga. However, the truth was far more gruesome: he fell prey to the Ubuugan fleshborers, parasitic worms that utilize living bodies as hosts.
Following his demise, Volpau's preserved body was placed inside a Rodomium death casket, accompanied by a precious amulet bearing inscriptions of his lineage. The ZZ-class freighter named Mingula was tasked with transporting Volpau's remains to Coruscant for ceremonial cremation. Regrettably, the fleshborers, still lurking within Volpau's corpse, broke free from the casket and assaulted the Zylurian crew, resulting in the deaths of all four individuals and the Mingula becoming stranded in the vastness of space, its journey abruptly halted.

At a later time, the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett stumbled upon the derelict vessel and, in search of valuable salvage, boarded it. Along with his captive Tsumo, he discovered Volpau's casket in the cargo bay and noticed the telltale boreholes left by the fleshborers on its exterior. It wasn't long before the parasites launched an attack, claiming Tsumo's life on the ship's bridge and targeting Fett, who managed to survive due to the protective nature of his Mandalorian armor.
Fett made a daring escape from the ship by concealing himself within a waste container that was jettisoned into space, triggering a catastrophic chain reaction that obliterated the Mingula. The only item Fett managed to salvage before fleeing the fleshborers was Volpau's valuable amulet, leaving the casket, which survived the blast, behind.
