KM1 mining droid
The KM1 mining droid was a four-legged mining droid engineered for the purpose of extracting and digging up precious mineral resources.
Characteristics
Sporting a squat, crab-like form, the KM1 exhibited exceptional resilience. To safeguard against environmental dangers, it was outfitted with a shield generator. While not renowned for their intellect, these droids possessed considerable mining expertise. The droid was armed with a pair of laser cutters, suitable for both extraction tasks and defensive measures. The cost of each droid was 21,880 credits.
A specialized, robust excavation model of the droid featured enhanced heavy laser cutters and neutronium plating.
History
Throughout the Old Republic era, the KM1 saw widespread deployment. Prior to its destruction in 3951 BBY, a significant number were employed at the Peragus Mining Facility to procure fuel. These droids typically functioned in compact teams, under the guidance of either an organic being or a supervisory droid. Duwani manufactured a variety of the mining droid, based on the KM1 platform, tailored for particular mining applications.
