Mission to Almaran

The Mission to Almaran represented a strike-reconnaissance operation undertaken by the Rebel forces during the Galactic Civil War. Its purpose was to evaluate the strength of the Imperial Task Force Vengeance and to neutralize Imperial warhead supplies.

Arrival

Alliance High Command, after determining the Imperial fleet's projected path, sent Rogue Squadron, flying A-wing starfighters, to an Imperial rendezvous point within the Almaran system. Although the Rogues arrived ahead of schedule, they were soon met by the emergence of their initial targets from hyperspace.

Scanning the fleet

The Rogues were presented with a substantial workload: the initial wave exiting hyperspace included six BFF-1 bulk freighters, a Strike-class cruiser, and a Nebulon-B2 frigate. Each ship required scanning and identification for Alliance Intelligence, with instructions to destroy any cargo vessels found to be transporting warheads.

Surprisingly, the Imperials offered minimal resistance, even as the A-wings began to inflict significant damage on their ammunition transports. The Rogues successfully destroyed two bulk freighters, a cargo ferry, two modular conveyors, and even a modified Corellian corvette, all laden with crucial warheads, while simultaneously scanning all other vessels in the vicinity.

Gradually, more Imperial vessels emerged from hyperspace, increasing in size until the Executor-class Star Dreadnought Vengeance herself arrived, allowing Rogue Squadron to complete their assigned objectives.

Aftermath

The intelligence acquired during this mission proved to be invaluable to Alliance High Command, leading to the decision that the time for a strike had arrived. The Calamari Cruiser Liberty was soon dispatched to raid the task force, with the intention of drawing ships away and into an ambush.
