The objective was pursued by Darth Bane, the Dark Lord of the Sith, in the year 980 BBY. His intention was to acquire Darth Andeddu's holocron, because Bane believed it contained the key to prolonging life. A perilous journey to the Deep Core planet Prakith was undertaken by Bane in his Theta-class T-1 vessel, named Triumph. Upon arrival, he located the fortress of Darth Andeddu and was immediately set upon by numerous followers of Andeddu. Bane overcame each of the cultists who assailed him and discovered Darth Andeddu's holocron within the Sith Lord's ancient burial chamber. He promptly departed the planet and, during his return to his residence on Ciutric IV, he examined the holocron, forcefully extracting the knowledge of transfer essence from it after the gatekeeper declined to impart it willingly.
