In the year 21 BBY, amidst the Clone Wars conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Jedi General Aayla Secura embarked upon a mission. This assignment led her to the Secret Research Facility situated on an unmapped moon within the Outer Rim Territories. Secura, accompanied by her astromech droid, known as QT-KT, was dispatched to the facility with the objective of uncovering a "big secret" concealed within its walls. After successfully locating a platform suitable for data uploading, their progress was thwarted by Dark Acolyte Asajj Ventress, who seized the data from their possession. Subsequently, she employed the Force in an attempt to wrest QT-KT away from Secura, but Secura countered by using the Force to pull the droid back, resulting in the astromech's head becoming separated from its body.
Subsequently, Secura and Ventress ignited their lightsabers and commenced a lightsaber duel. They both jumped between platforms, parrying each other's attacks. Ventress advised Secura to flee, warning that the facility's central beam was nearing critical overheating, a condition that would lead to its collapse. Ventress then launched her lightsabers at Secura; however, they missed their target and instead struck a pipe, destabilizing the beam and causing cracks to appear in the floor as the two continued their battle.
Recognizing her responsibility as a Jedi to act selflessly, Secura harnessed her Force powers to shield the research facility's Geonosian workforce from falling debris, instructing them to evacuate. Ventress mocked the Jedi's perceived altruism, but also used this as an opportunity to escape.
