A spaceport existed within the two-tiered city of Mos Espa, situated on the Outer Rim desert planet known as Tatooine. This spaceport was positioned on the city's higher level, adjacent to the upper sprawl. From this location, both passenger and cargo ships would arrive and leave. After the death of Jabba Desilijic Tiure, his majordomo, Bib Fortuna, succeeded him, claiming the title of Daimyo and seizing command of Jabba's criminal empire. To ensure his dominance, Fortuna split Mos Espa among three crime families; the Klatooinian family was given authority over both the upper sprawl and the spaceport.
