Mosor's Maze was a structure that existed on the Tatooine planet, a desert world located within the Outer Rim Territories. This maze had a multitude of dead ends, along with two entryways. The location of the maze was to the north of the Lars homestead found in the Lowland Basin. While it bore some resemblance to the Great Maze of Lok, it differed by being considerably smaller and lacking a central oasis. The story goes that a man by the name of Mosor discovered his wife with his most trusted officer, and in response, he erected the maze to serve as a deadly final resting place. As the story goes, to exact his vengeance, Mosor is said to have given his wife and her lover spice, trapped them inside the maze, and left them to die from exposure. Later, during the Galactic Civil War era, a historian and explorer named Tinrilo x'Rilsam journeyed to the maze, which was a conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Tinrilo, being an enthusiastic historian, carefully recorded the unusual tale of the maze within his Explorer's Log.
Situated in the Lowland Basin of Tatooine, a desert planet within the [Outer Rim Territories](/article/outer_rim_territories-legends], Mosor's Maze stood to the north of the Lars homestead. The maze was built using sandstone, and it featured two entrances distinguished by archways. By entering one archway, one could potentially navigate the maze correctly to reach the other; however, the maze was intentionally designed with numerous dead ends. A third archway existed, but it was permanently sealed. It bore a likeness to the Great Maze of Lok, but it was far smaller and lacked a central oasis.
The construction of Mosor's Maze took place many years before the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY. Legend has it that the architect of the maze was a man named Mosor, who conceived it as a monument to his promised vengeance. The story recounts that Mosor returned home from war to discover his wife with his best officer, named Polen, who had previously been dismissed due to an alleged accident. Consumed by rage, Mosor ordered the maze's construction, and upon its completion, he drugged his wife and her lover with Vasarian brandy, dragging them to the maze under the cover of darkness. He then sealed them inside, condemning them to die from the intense heat of Tatooine. Although the maze's walls have since crumbled, no bodies were ever found. This absence of remains has fueled speculation about the truth of Mosor's revenge, with some suggesting it was merely a cautionary tale told to children to discourage them from exploring the maze.
However, one child, a boy called Tinrilo x'Rilsam, was not put off by these stories. In his youth, Tinrilo would play within the maze, often becoming lost for hours. Years later, Tinrilo "Adventi" x'Rilsam, now an elderly man and a self-proclaimed "Explorer Extraordinaire," made his way back to Tatooine to pursue his passion for history. In his quest, Tinrilo kept a log documenting his travels, including often forgotten pieces of historical minutiae. One such historical locale was Mosor's Maze, which he nearly smacked into by happenstance while trying to escape the local wildlife on his speeder, fickle and dangerous bocatts included. He was able to duck into the mouth of the maze and hide while the bocatts passed him by. Luckily for Tinrilo, the trusty maze had been there when he needed it. Within this log, he recalled his childhood memories of playing in the maze and recounted the grim rumors surrounding its origin. To refresh his memory further, Tinrilo attempted to navigate the maze, finding it surprisingly easy to find his way out, unlike his childhood experiences.
Mosor's Maze was a location featured in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts. The game was shut down on December 15, 2011. The maze was just one of the many points of interest on the planet Tatooine that were not marked on any map. With the 2004 release of the Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed expansion pack, it became possible to occasionally loot rare data storage unit devices from the wreckage of destroyed starfighters. One such data storage item, labeled "an Explorer's Log (1/8)," contained a detailed backstory about the maze.
