The Multi-Utility Transport (MUT) represented a larger iteration of the Trade Federation Multi-Troop Transport, and functioned as a repulsorlift vehicle.
Baktoid Armor Workshop served as the manufacturer of the Multi-Utility Transport. The MUT's design is reminiscent of charging creatures found in dense jungle environments: its heavily armored front section is capable of withstanding significant impacts, enabling it to breach enemy structures and deploy its complement of troops behind enemy lines. The MUT possesses the capacity to transport an entire company of 112 battle droids in a stowed configuration, utilizing its detachable, hydraulically powered deployment rack. The MUT was well-defended, featuring thick armor and four forward-facing anti-personnel blasters.
The Clone Wars marked the initial appearance of the MUT; however, a similar-looking model, bearing a greater resemblance to the original MTT design (albeit incorporating the MUT's "wings"), had been in operation slightly earlier. This earlier model was encountered by Jedi Master Adi Gallia during her investigation into the Trade Federation's presence within the Karthakk system.
During the Dark Reaper crisis, the MUT saw combat on Raxus Prime, Rhen Var, and Thule. In these engagements, they typically formed part of extensive convoys, receiving protection from Armored Assault Tanks, Single Trooper Aerial Platforms, and Ground Armored Tanks. Their slow ground speed indicated a capacity for transporting substantial cargo, but at the cost of swift movement.
