Mupple pies were a specific kind of pie that were marketed on the world of Roon. In the year 15 BBY, the person Mungo Baobab, who was Human, together with his mechanical companion C-3PO, took some mupple pies without permission from a pair of unidentified alien merchants. They then utilized these pies as a means to divert the attention of a couple of security personnel stationed at the Fortress of Tawntoom.
Mupple pies were a circular type of baked good. These pies had a beige color and were safe to eat for Humans. They were prepared using mupples, which are indigenous to the planet Roon.
Back in 15 BBY, two alien vendors were peddling mupple pies on the planet Roon. At this time, another vendor, the Human Mungo Baobab, along with his protocol droid, C-3PO, were in need of a disguise in order to infiltrate the Fortress of Tawntoom, which served as the base of operations for the local Governer Bisad Koong. After spotting the vendors, the duo restrained them with rope and pilfered their outer garments and pies, with the intention of impersonating pie sellers. Carrying the warm pies, Baobab and C-3PO approached two guards stationed at the entrance, who ordered them to stop. Baobab, acting on the suggestion of his droid, offered the guards some pies to enjoy. The guards instructed them to proceed, but Baobab required a distraction, so he provided them with a complimentary pie each, without any charge.
The two guards accepted the offer, savoring the pies while C-3PO secretly brought in his miniaturized droid counterpart, R2-D2, who then set out to locate Auren and Nilz Yomm—Baobab's friends who had been taken prisoner. Later, while awaiting R2-D2's return, Baobab began to worry that the distraction provided by the pies would soon lose its effectiveness. Sure enough, just as the Yomms reappeared, the guards demanded more pie from Baobab and the droid. To create another diversion, C-3PO pointed out the escaped captives, prompting the security guards to immediately give chase. However, the guards were quickly overtaken and captured by Baobab.
Mupple pie made an appearance in "The Frozen Citadel," which was the thirteenth and concluding episode of the Star Wars: Droids animated series. This episode was originally broadcast on November 30, 1985.
