Muura

Muura was a female Keshiri hailing from the planet of Kesh. She served as an attendant to Vestara Khai, the Sith Tyro, in 41 ABY. Muura possessed a talent for creating the ceremonial vor'shandi markings and for intricately braiding hair. She employed these skills to elaborately adorn Vestara on the morning the Tyro journeyed to the Circle Chambers in the city of Tahv for a meeting with the Circle of Lords, the planet's governing body. Subsequently, Vestara became an apprentice to Lady Rhea and relocated to the Sith Temple. Consequently, Muura was discharged from the Khai household, as her services were no longer required.

Biography

Vestara Khai, adorned with vor'shandi markings

From the planet of [Kesh](/article/kesh-legends], which is located in Wild Space, came Muura, a Keshiri female. Functioning as a maidservant for the Khai family, a Human family belonging to the Lost Tribe of Sith, she lived in 41 ABY. Her duties often involved attending to Sith Tyro Vestara Khai, who was the sole daughter of Sith Saber Gavar Khai and his wife, Lahka Khai. On the specific morning when Vestara was scheduled to travel to the Circle Chambers within the capital city of Tahv for a meeting with the Circle of Lords, which served as the planet's ruling council, Muura meticulously prepared Vestara. This preparation included applying vor'shandi markings, crafted from the nectar of the S'rai plant and particularly featuring the dalsa flower, and intricately braiding her hair. Following this event, Muura's services were deemed unnecessary, as Vestara was chosen to become the apprentice of Lady Rhea, necessitating her residence within the Sith Temple. Gavar subsequently informed Muura that her services were no longer required at their estate, providing her with clothing and sustenance sufficient for several days. Furthermore, Gavar informed several acquaintances of Muura's availability for employment elsewhere.

Personality and traits

With a height surpassing 1.5 meters, Muura possessed the characteristically soft purple skin and melodic accent of her species. Accustomed to Vestara's discontent with the noticeable scar on her face, Muura lavished attention on the Tyro, praising her beauty despite Vestara's own perception that Muura was more attractive. Muura demonstrated exceptional skill in the artistry of vor'shandi markings, which were beautiful designs painted onto members of the Tribe for special ceremonies. Her dexterity was also remarkable, enabling her to weave her mistress' long brown hair into intricate braids.

Muura felt confusion at Gavar's sadness in the house as his daughter departed, and when he informed her that her services would no longer be needed; however, she understood the situation well enough to refrain from requesting a reference upon her dismissal.

Behind the scenes

Christie Golden conceived Muura for her debut Star Wars novel, Fate of the Jedi: Omen, which served as the second installment in the nine-part Fate of the Jedi series. She was later referenced in Golden's third contribution to the series, Fate of the Jedi: Ascension, which was the eighth novel overall.
