A Nashal River Race participant
During the peak of the Galactic Civil War, the Nashal River Race was an annual swoop racing event. This competition occurred on the world of Talus, which itself was situated within the Corellian system.
The race's route followed the courses of the Krisa, Jeassa, and Aximia rivers, all of which were in proximity to the city called Nashal. According to the race's coordinator, a 3PO-series protocol droid, the Nashal River Race was mainly for recreational purposes and races for younger participants. Very few professional competitions were ever organized for this particular track. Due to the track's location along major waterways close to Nashal, it wasn't really practical for racing on foot or using mounts. However, using a hover vehicle on the track was considered a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
The video game Star Wars Galaxies, which was released in 2003, featured the Nashal River Race. This massively multiplayer online roleplaying game was created by Sony Online Entertainment and published through LucasArts. The game was shut down on December 15, 2011. The Nashal River Race was integrated into the game through an update that came out on December 20, 2004.
