The initial reference to Neelanon within the current canon occurred on a trading card featured in the 2018 Star Wars Galactic Files collection, which was distributed by The Topps Company, Inc. during the year 2018. Its genesis lies within the Star Wars Legends timeline, with its inaugural mention appearing in the article titled "Who's Who in the Delegation of 2000." This article was authored by Daniel Wallace and made available in Star Wars Insider issue 85 in 2005.
