Observatory (Metellos 3)
The Observatory, previously a solar observatory, served as a negotiation site for the criminal Nunk Plaarvin of Chevin. He operated from Metellos 3, using the observatory for this purpose.
History
After the Galactic Republic shifted its financial support towards the Flashpoint Stellar Research Station, the Metellos observatory was left unused. Originally, the Observatory, famous for its array of telescopes, drew scholars and the occasional traveler seeking refuge from the bustling planet below. However, following the Great Sith War and the renewed exploration of the galaxy, locals realized they could utilize the equipment to locate and study undiscovered celestial bodies.
Through collaboration with the Galactic Republic, Metellos 3 pioneered the concept of "planetary futures exchanges," selling rights to these newly discovered astronomical objects. Given the high costs associated with expeditions to the Outer Rim territories, investors needed to assess the risks and potential gains beforehand. The Metellos Exchange offered this assessment, utilizing the collected astronomical data, and subsequently auctioned off the claims. However, the Exchange itself was linked to the Raff Syndicate, a criminal enterprise. Its members legally obtained a share of every transaction, but disputes arose frequently. To resolve these, individuals with counterclaims were ostensibly compensated to leave, but were instead directed to the Observatory at the tower's peak. The Observatory's glass was designed to amplify Metellos's intense sunlight, incinerating anyone inside. Rohlan Dyre and Jarael are the only known survivors of this room, thanks to Jarael's dormant Force-sensitivity.
