Neo-Imperialism

Neo-Imperialism represented a significant political ideology aiming for the resurgence and restoration of the Galactic Empire alongside its underlying socio-political ideology. The First Order embraced this doctrine, employing indoctrination methods to instill fervent Imperial principles within its ranks. Furthermore, the offspring of individuals who had served Emperor Sheev Palpatine underwent rapid radicalization. Before the First Order unleashed its reign of terror upon the galaxy, the balance of power between Neo-Imperialism and the New Republic shifted significantly following the New Republic's victory in a campaign against the forces commanded by Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Ideology

At its core, this ideology was fueled by an unwavering and zealous commitment to the authoritarian principles of "order," coupled with a fierce and aggressive opposition to both the New Republic and the concept of democracy.

Behind the scenes

In the initial stages of creating Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, the entity that ultimately became known as the First Order was initially designated as the Neo-Empire.
