New Raido was a metropolis situated on the world of Ord Radama. During the Great Galactic War, the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire engaged in a battle that resulted in the destruction of Livien Magnus, which had been the capital of Ord Radama; following this conflict, New Raido took its place as the planet's new capital. Some months afterward, the Sith came back to Ord Radama, and Darth Malgus, a Sith Lord, plotted to spearhead an attack on New Raido.
Daniel Wallace conceived New Raido, and the city was showcased in the 2012 work titled Book of Sith: Secrets from the Dark Side. Wallace's intention was for the city to serve as a nod to Raido, a Devlikk podracer who was a character in The Clone Wars: Crash Course comic. In the endnotes of Book of Sith, Wallace posited that the name "Raido" might have been frequently used among the Devlikk and could potentially trace back to a well-known figure from history, who served as the namesake for both the podracer and the city.
