Raido, a Podracer pilot of the male Devlikk species, was known for piloting a yellow J930 Dash-8 Podracer around 22 BBY. During that year, he participated in a qualifying race for the Mon Gazza Maze, a course situated on the Mid Rim planet of Mon Gazza. Prior to the commencement of the race, San Maxus, a Devaronian Podracer, bribed Raido to eliminate Ahsoka Tano, a Togruta Podracer who was actually a disguised Jedi Padawan. Throughout the majority of the subsequent race, Raido pursued Tano, successfully destroying her Podracer, although he also damaged his own in the process. Ultimately, Raido's efforts proved futile, as Tano acquired a replacement Podracer for the subsequent race.

Raido, a male Devlikk, worked as a Podracer pilot professionally in the early years of the Clone Wars, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems that began in 22 BBY. He piloted a yellow JAK Racing J930 Dash-8 Podracer, a vehicle celebrated for its exceptional traction, in a Podrace on the Mid Rim planet of Mon Gazza. This race was the second qualifying event for a race on the Mon Gazza Maze course.
During the initial qualifying race, Raido stayed inside the Podracer hangar, examining his vehicle, alongside Ben Quadinaros, a Toong pilot. Both were briefly distracted by the arrival of Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi Knight. Ahsoka Tano, Skywalker's Togruta apprentice, was also preparing for the second qualifying race, working undercover as a pilot to expose spies working for the Confederacy. San Maxus, a Devaronian male pilot, was one of these Confederate spies. However, Maxus discovered the Jedi's presence and sought out Raido, ultimately hiring the Devlikk Podracer to take Tano out of the race.

As the second qualifying race commenced, Tano positioned herself among the leaders, closely following Maxus for much of the race. Raido, in turn, trailed closely behind Tano. Despite numerous crashes along the increasingly perilous race course, the leading trio maintained their positions, as the droid commentator excitedly announced when they navigated the Doom Pipes and approached the Dust Gaps, the course's final stretch. Suddenly, Tano fell behind, ending up at the back of the pack just before reaching the finish line. Raido mirrored her actions, remaining behind her instead of surging ahead. Skywalker, noticing these events, used a comlink to warn Tano about Raido's yellow Dash-8 tailing her. However, as the finish line neared, Raido finally executed his plan against Tano, accelerating to ram her cockpit from behind.
Initially, the maneuver seemed successful. Tano's racer was destroyed, crossing the finish line in pieces. However, Raido lost control of his Podracer and crashed immediately behind Tano. Both pilots skidded across the finish line, with Tano finishing tenth and Raido eleventh. While Maxus was pleased that Tano no longer possessed a Pod for racing, he was angered by Kidd Kareen, his friend and crew leader, who had grown fond of the young Togruta and offered Tano one of his spare Podracers for the Maze race. During the subsequent Maze race, Maxus attempted to deliver something to Confederate agent Asajj Ventress, but crashed after Tano damaged his Podracer.
Raido was a proficient pilot, possessing the quick reflexes essential for a Podracing career. He demonstrated his skill by tailing Ahsoka Tano at varying speeds throughout their race. Furthermore, Raido was willing to accept bribes to eliminate competitors, as evidenced by his agreement with San Maxus.
As a Devlikk, he was covered in short, tan fur and adorned with green plumage on his head and around his neck. Raido also possessed black eyes and brown skin.

Raido preferred a JAK Racing J930 Dash-8 Podracer, a vehicle renowned for its exceptional traction, maneuverability, and speed. However, its lack of durability was evident in Raido's failed attempt to eliminate Ahsoka Tano during their race on Mon Gazza. Raido's Podracer featured a yellow color scheme with black accents on the engine fins and housing. The cockpit was uniformly yellow, while the seat cushioning inside was orange.
During races, Raido wore brown goggles with black straps to protect his eyes.
Raido was conceived by Henry Gilroy and first appeared in The Clone Wars: Crash Course, a 2008 graphic novella illustrated by Matthew and Shawn Fillbach and colored by Ronda Pattison. Later, the 2012 publication Book of Sith: Secrets from the Dark Side mentioned New Raido, a city that Daniel Wallace, the book's writer, intended as a reference to the Podracer Raido. In the endnotes of Book of Sith, Wallace proposed that "Raido" might have been a common name among the Devlikk, possibly linked to a significant historical figure from their species after whom both the Podracer pilot and the city were named.
